A voice isn’t just a voice but more like a light, a light where you can dig deep inside and hold it in front of your hands, shining bright.
That’s who Ms. Zoey Adams is.
Zoey Adams, Black by way of the West Indies and from Kingston, Jamaica, is a Speech Therapist. She is one of two speech therapists at Mission High School who helps any children who need her help and support.
Her help ranges from anyone who could be having trouble saying a certain sound to students having trouble expressing themselves.
“People think that speech is about talking, and it is, but it’s mostly about listening,” she said.
Ms. Zoey also loves the Mission High community. She has been here for years, since ESY’s summer school program.
Outside of work, Ms. Zoey loves to cook. She became interested because her mom was a great cook, and she wanted to share cooking with the kids at Mission.
Ms. Zoey thinks it’s super cool that the Mission High building is one of the oldest preserved in San Francisco. She also enjoys the community and how Mission welcomes everyone with open arms. She loves the kids, too.
Another fact about Ms. Zoey is that she doesn’t just work at Mission High School, but she also works at John O’Connell too.
You can find Ms. Zoey in room 400J in the library where she’s located, if you need help or just someone to talk to.
