Benita Varnado is the Parent Teacher Student Association Coordinator at Mission High School. Working for 17 years now, Ms. Varnado is an interesting, friendly, and caring person in her community by making phone calls to parents and organizing after-school events. She’s organized back to school nights and parent information nights, showing how much she cares for students’ families and their involvement in their children’s education.
Growing up in San Francisco Ms. Varnado went to Panovalley High School and graduated from Tuskegee University with a major in Psychology and a minor in Education.
Outside of Work Ms. Varnado does very interesting things.
“I like to skate, not roller skate, but ice skate,” she says.
Her favorite place to eat is in Vallejo, a seafood restaurant named The Dead Fish and she loves to go on cruises in Aruba.
Ms. Varnado is like her parents who were loving, thoughtful, and creative. They taught her how to love all people no matter who they are or where they come from. Her relationship with her big family warms her and they help her keep going through tough times.
Staying in Mission High School has made her realize how proud she is of herself.
“I’m proud of being an educator. It is an honor to work in a field with people who want to make a positive difference in a young person’s life.”
