Ms. T is the new assistant principal of Mission High School. She just started this school year.
What makes her qualified to be in this position is her experience of teaching for 26 years. She has also been a librarian at a middle school, which has provided her with a sense of judgment of what makes a good assistant principal and a bad one, having worked with plenty of people on her route to being an assistant principal at Mission High.
Usually, she attends IEP meetings, where she discusses issues with students and their parents. When she’s not in meetings, she observes classrooms to look for solutions to reach planned goals and set future ones.
The most stressful part about her job is how boring district meetings can be, but the hope of creating change in this school for the better ultimately makes up for the thorns that come with the role.
One of the changes that she wants to fulfill is the implementation of a solution for “students cutting class by discussing the issue with other teachers and staff so that we can find the best solution.”
Outside of the classroom, Ms. T also has goals she wants to fulfill after her time at Mission High ends by becoming a librarian again, this time not for a school but for the city.
Finally, she wants to “enjoy (her) retirement with (her) family and friends watching baseball games.”
