Ofi Tupuola is a new member of Mission High School. She is a security guard at Mission High, an important member to our community, and a mom of 3. Ofi is hardworking; she isn’t only a security guard, she also has a job of taking care of her kids.
Ofi is Samoan. She was born at General Hospital and raised in San Francisco. She grew up in Sunnydale for a couple of years then moved to Hunters Point, and went to Burton High School.
This is Ofi’s second year at Mission High. She was working as a security guard at Lincoln High School before she came to Mission High, where she is now our current security guard. Ofi came to Mission High because she is a mom of 4, so Mission High was also the best fit for her schedule as a mom. She also really liked the weather, the location, and the environment around Mission High.
Ofi has built an amazing connection with the students here at Mission. She feels like when she is here at Mission, she’s making a difference, and can connect with the students and understand where they are coming from.
Ofi tries to connect and find ways to relate to the students. Whether a student is upset or having a hard time, Ofi tries to take time and understand why they are feeling this way or if there is something wrong outside of school. Ofi likes being helpful and helping students find resources.
Something else Ofi enjoys doing is when she goes outside to the football field after school. She likes to see all the hard working student athletes practicing and knows they all have good grades.
But we students don’t see Ofi as just a security guard. Ofi is actually a big part of our school. Just like the rest of our security guards at Mission High, without them, it wouldn’t be a community.
