Everyone loves talking about their pets. If someone has a pet, the first thing they do is pull out photos. Here are some of the pets of Mission High students and staff, including my own, Coco.
Coco (Celeste’s pet) :
This is my dog, Coco, who is 3 years old. His birthday is June 22. He is a mixed breed between rottweiler and cane corso. He is a very spoiled nugget because he is everyone’s joy, so we take care of him a lot. Something about Coco is that he doesn’t like pictures, so I have a lot of side-eye pictures but he is still the sweetest. Coco loves going on walks. He gets very energetic, and excited and is VERY food-motivated. One of his favs is chicken and his variety of treats. I know he is very talented and obedient; he knows how to listen and a lot of tricks.
Emilytu (Mr. Arreguin’s pet):
Mr. Arreguin’s pet is a parakeet, a type of bird. Mr. Arreguin teaches Spanish. His parrot’s name is Emilytu and Mr. A has had him for 3 years, almost 4. He was found by one of his friends on the side of the street in Albany California. Mr. A kept him because he’s had other birds before, so he had some experience and was open to adopting. Mr. A says that Emilytu is very playful; he loves playing with shiny things.
Rico (Josiah’s pet):
Rico is a small orange and purple gecko that Josiah Herrera bought from Petco and has had for a year now. Something about Rico is that he’s very lazy and likes to chill under a rock inside his enclosure most of the time. He enjoys his peaceful environment, but sometimes Josiah takes him out and plays with him. He only eats 1 cricket every 2 days. He also has some plants inside his cage that he likes too.
Clancy (Ryan’s pet)
Clancy is an 11-year-old tabby, Ryan adopted him from Chicago before moving to San Francisco. Ryan Young is a teacher and coordinator from 826 Valencia. Ryan says that he was a stray with a broken tail and a clipped ear. Despite all this, he’s still very friendly and likes to live a cozy life. His favorite activities include lying on a blanket or making biscuits. His cat is very dog-like and likes to wait for him by the door. Clancy loves his wet food but something that would be his “favorite treat” would be licking the salt of a tortilla chip.
Luna and Batman (Jordan’s pets)
Jordan Santiago Flores has two cats. Luna and Batman are like yin and yang as cats, very adorable but complete opposites.
Luna is very serious and alert to her surroundings. Jordan says they bought her from his auntie. Luna likes to bite when you try to pet her and thinks that hands are toys, but she does let her walls down sometimes and gets cuddly for a few seconds. Her favorite spots to hide are the dark places in the house. Another spot is Jordan’s gaming chair; she loves chilling there like a loaf. Lastly, her favorite snack is mango with some tajin.
Now Batman was bought from another auntie in San Diego. He likes to be affectionate pretty much all the time and likes to steal Luna’s food so very much a food lover. One of his favorite spots to chill or hide in are high places in the house and dark spots like Luna. Unlike her, he loves going on walks he brings the leash to Jordan’s door and scratches it. His fav fav treat is coconut ice cream he likes it.
