Angelo’s Food Adventures videos popped up on TikTok a couple of months ago and have been there ever since. The first video I watched was a review of a burger restaurant. I wasn’t just surprised that I saw someone from the halls of my school on my For You page, I was surprised by the attention to detail the video had and the editing. The colorful subtitles and background music gave the videos a professional feel mixed in with local food and appreciation for cuisine.
Angelo Crachiollo is a junior at our school. You might see this chill student in your classes sometime quiet and sometimes talking a lot.
What inspired you to start your food review account on Instagram and TikTok?
Inspiration came from trying different businesses.
“It was actually my sister who told me, ‘maybe you should start something like a channel’, and I thought ‘you know what, you’re right’.”
How do you choose the restaurants you visit?
“Every weekend my grandmother would take me out to go eat some food.”
He thought to look in those areas for restaurants to try and rate.
“I [also] go on Tik Tok and look up the best restaurants in SF.”
What is your process for reviewing food?
“I usually go by the texture of the food, [and] the taste obviously. Taste is the biggest thing because it tells you whether or not you’ll like the food.”
Do you make your own edits?
“Actually I do.”
He used to make all his own edits, and though he paid an editor to edit a recent video, he knows he can always edit the video himself.
What challenges do you face while running this account?
“The only challenge is to get more views, more engagement, but that will just come through time. You gotta stay consistent, and eventually, it just takes that one video to go viral.”
Do you see this as a hobby or something you’d like to turn into a career?
“Honestly, this could turn into a career because it opens up many doors like sponsorships. You could start a business, so I can turn it into a career.”
Do you pay for your own food?
He usually pays for his own food but it varies, on occasion his sister or his mom will pay for him.
Catchphrase:
He first looked for ChatGPT when thinking about a catchphrase but it came up with nothing, and then talked to his sister and then came up with “smackin”.
What are your long-term goals for the account in the next year or so?
“If we’re going to be specific, I would at least like to have 100,00 followers. Nothing too big, but nothing too little, you know? Something that is achievable within one year, but with an overall engagement and following.”
