Mission vs Galileo, 1/17 at Galileo. Tie 3-3.
Mission should’ve won the match; we had chances. The referee gave the opponents a corner kick even though it was out on the opponent, which should’ve been a goal kick for Mission.
This corner resulted in one of our players fouling a player inside the box leading it to be a penalty, which tied the score.
Sebastian M, a junior and spectator, said, “We were doing decent on the attacking but the defense was not great since Gal had a few chances to score.”
Sebastian says that we tied because on the field, it looked like Gal wanted to win more than we did and played with more passion.
Mission vs Washington at Mission, 1/21, 2-3 Washington wins.
Mission had an amazing start going on a 2-0 lead.
Over the course of the game, Mission started getting reckless and relaxed. This caused Wash to gain 2 points on corner kicks. The final score ended up 2-3 with Mission losing.
Warren Hill, a junior, said mistakes were made. “We conceded 2 header goals back-to-back in the span of 10 minutes and our forwards were not as fast as the defense.”
Mission vs Marshall at Mission, 1/23. 2-1 Mission wins.
This game was one of the best performances I have seen from the Mission soccer team. The game was a very intense and amazing game. Everyone gave it their all and, as a result, we ended up winning. Marshall took the lead in the first half scoring a shot from outside the box, but Mission tied the score with a penalty by Josue Altamirano shortly after. The second half was very intense with everyone giving it their all fighting for the ball and even after being tired still running for the ball. With a few minutes left, Jordan De Arcia Lopez scored with a free kick which hyped everyone up and gave us energy for the last few minutes of the game.
“(Estoy) contento sobre la victoria, sobre el gol que pude asistir (y) dejando todo en la cancha… Todos hicimos un buen trabajo en equipo y (aseguramos) la victoria de 2-1. (Espero para) seguir con el trabajo en equipo y a seguir ganando. Tuvimos refuerzos en la defensa venga Mission,” said Jordan De Arcia Lopez.
