The book that I have been reading for the past couple of weeks is called Fourth Wing, by Rebecca Yarros. It has a very interesting plot filled with mystery and unexpected twists.
I also really like it because it is a fantasy book series, which is my favorite and I enjoy dragons. My favorite part of the book is when the protagonist meets her dragon for the first time ever.
The novel is intriguing because I am a huge fantasy fan. Reading fantasy like The Fourth Wing is a great way to escape the world around us. I love made-up worlds with different rules, legends, dragons, magic, and many other fantastic beasts.
The book is set in a mystical kingdom called Navarre. The Kingdom of Navarre is mortal enemies with its neighboring kingdom, and the two have been locked in many wars and disturbances.
The main story takes place at the school which trains people for war. The characters learn how to survive in battle through a flight class that trains them to stay on a dragon through steep drops, hard maneuvers, and quick diving turns in the air.
The main character, Violet, has been training to be a scribe her whole life, but her mom decided to enroll her in the dragon school instead. Violet feels unhappy with this unexpected decision.
Violet meets Xaden, the Cold Wing Leader, at the dragon school while she is finishing her entrance test. Their relationship is distant at first but becomes closer during the Threshing, or bonding of the dragons, since their two dragons bond.
Violet’s relationship with Xaden has her questioning what is true and what is not. Soon she becomes overwhelmed by secrets she has to keep from those closest to her. The secrets slowly reveal themselves as the first book continues. Violet wants to keep her friends safe and can’t tell them what is going on.
My favorite part of the book is the ending which is crazy, but read the book from beginning to end in order to find out what happens. Also, if you love the first book, there are two more in the series, Iron Flame and Onyx Strom, to continue the adventure.
