Congratulations students! As our school year comes to an end, everyone has worked so hard and has done many great things for my final article. I would like for it to be what started everything off one last fit of the week.
This Fit of the Week would go to Coach Tibb. Coach Tibb was wearing a local African American barber shop’s brand shirt. The brand is BHBP in Antioch. He also had on a Supreme beanie, H&M jeans, and Nike Dunks. For the accessories, Coach Tibb went all out with iced-out jewelry, with his most iconic piece his ‘Cocky Chain,” with all VVS stones.
“I (have) always loved fashion; always been a student of fashion since I was a kid. I always liked nice things and I always worked hard to get them, so fashion is one of the most important things to me and my personal life. I feel like if you look good, you dress good, you smell good, you are going to feel good.”
Coach Tibb doesn’t really take inspiration from anyone in fashion. “I have my own style, I don’t really jump on trends.”
“I stay with my own style because it will never go out of style.” Tibb loves jerseys and feels like you can always wear a jersey because they’ll never go out of style. Tibb also owns a plethora of hats, more than 300, and more than 300 shoes.
Tibb’s outfit breakdown costs were $50 for his shirt, $100 for jeans, $120 for shoes, and the beanie for $90. With Coach Tibb’s outfit, it’s not too much and not too little. It’s not a crazy amount or something. Coach Tibb feels that with fashion, it doesn’t matter the cost, it’s about what you make of it.
“And that’s another thing like with me. You don’t have to wear a $1,000 pair of shoes to look good. Jeans don’t gotta be $400 to look good. You could put it together how you want to and be yourself, and still look good. This generation feels like the brand makes them when you make the brand.”
Coach Tibb’s feels that there isn’t much fashion at Mission High. “Everybody wears the same thing. Everybody looks the same. You see a lot of the same thing because of the era we live in.” Tibb feels that nobody just has their own style at Mission and nobody really stands out. “It’s hard to tell who is who.”
Coach Tibb’s favorite thing about fashion would be his own clothing line, Cocky Clothing. He creates his own clothes and wears his own creations.
“What I take away from fashion (is that) fashion is a culture, it’s a culture shock. Fashion impacts the world, fashion impacts students. A lot of people grind, hustle, and work. They even steal because they want fashion, so I feel like fashion is a big thing for life because everybody wants to look good.”
