Terrance Gentry, also known as Tibb, is from San Francisco. He is a security guard at school during the day and Assistant Football coach for the Mission Bears varsity team.
Terrance’s first impression of Mission High School was that he liked it because “the weather is nice and the students here are cool.”
Also, “it was a bit unpolished and the students were rowdy,” but he says over the time he’s been here “it’s gotten significantly better.”
He’s seeing less kids in the hallways and more students with respect coming in, and it’s taking an effect on the other students.
Terrance also feels that athletics are getting better. He thinks we have some really good talent at our school, and he loves it even more from the standpoint of even being a coach. He thinks we have a lot of potential.
Terrence loves that he is coaching here. He is the assistant coach for the football team and the head coach for the flag football team. His first few years were rough, but it’s getting better because kids are starting to take an interest in sports at Mission.
On Saturday, September 7th, the Bears football team took a major loss: 0 to 50.
When asked about this tough game, Terrance said, “we have many new players that are still trying to learn. We also had many missing pieces in our offense and defense, some students were unable to play because of grades [or being] new transfer students.”
Moving forward from their loss, the football team has been correcting flaws and has been trying to “get in a good rhythm” and work better as a team.
Terrance thinks Mission football can make the playoffs this year if the team manages to keep all our pieces.
