The Oscars are coming up this year on March 12, 2023 being the 95th year of the Oscars. Recently, the nominees were made public starting with the nominees for Best Picture which is All Quiet on the Western Front, Avatar: The Way of Water, The Banshees of Inisherin, Elvis, Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Fablemans, Tár, Top Gun: Maverick, Triangle of Sadness, and lastly Women Talking. There have been no front runners for films.

There are a lot of films as you can see and I have only seen a couple of these movies, but I do have to say something that did really surprise me. Top Gun: Maverick was nominated and I haven’t seen an action movie like Top Gun being nominated, but at the same time I can see why it’s nominated and I have heard that a lot of people did like this film.

I will have to say though I do think Avatar: The Way of Water will win the nominations for production design and sound and visual effects. I am just thinking that the movie has to win at least one of those categories because the movie did really well in the effects and created new methods of filming movies which not a lot of other films can say.

The nominations for Best Actor in a Leading Role will be Austin Butler in Elvis, Colin Farrell in The Banshees of Inisherin, Brendan Fraser in The Whale, Paul Mescal in Aftersun, and last but not least Bill Nighy in Living. I do have a prediction that Brendan Fraser will win the Oscar for leading actor because I think the way he portrayed his character was so beautiful that it left a lot of people speechless.

The nominees for Best Actress in a Leading Role are Cate Blanchett in Tár, Ana de Armas in Blonde, Andrea Riseborough in To Leslie, Michelle Williams in The Fablemans, and Michelle Yeoh in Everything Everywhere all at Once. I do have to say that a lot of people liked the performance of Michelle Yeoh. I think there is a high chance that she will win or maybe Cate Blanchett.

I don’t have a prediction for the winner for best picture because there are truly some really good films as options, but I guess I will have to wait for the award ceremony which is one that is fun to watch with comedic moments. I think that this year will be an interesting Oscars ceremony and hopefully more people can watch and see who wins.
