The 49ers have had a rough start to their season and a lot of people think they won’t make it very far due to all the problems the team has been going through. But they have been proving people wrong and showing how determined they are to make it to the Superbowl despite all the problems they’ve faced, including that most of their star players are out due to injuries. The players being: Brock Purdy (toe injury), Ricky Pearsall (knee injury), Fred Warner (ankle injury), Yetur Gross-Matos (knee injury), Marquez Valdes-Scantling (calf injury), Jauan Jennings (ankle and shoulder injury), Kalia Davis (ankle injury), Renardo Green (neck injury), Kevin Givens (pectoral injury), Jake Berndel (hamstring injury), and T. Jackson whose injuries are currently undisclosed.
In Week 1, they lost their starting quarterback Brock Purdy to a turf toe injury while playing against the Seattle Seahawks. That has caused him to miss several games and he was replaced with Mac Jones until he can return to the field. As of this moment, there is no exact timeline for Brock Purdy’s return, though recent updates suggest he is closer to playing, with his status for Week 9 against the New York Giants being evaluated based on his Wednesday practice report. As for Fred Warner he is out for the season because of a season-ending injury: a fractured and dislocated right ankle, an injury he sustained on October 12th, 2025, during the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Warner underwent surgery for the injury and will miss the rest of the 2025 season.
But unlike Purdy, WR1 (Wide Receiver 1), Ricky Pearsall will not be back in Week 9 due to a knee injury that he sustained in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Initially considered minor, the injury has proven to be stubborn and caused him to miss 4 straight games. He has made some positive progress, including running and cutting on the side, but was ruled out for Week 9 as he is not yet cleared for full practice which is why the team is taking a cautious approach. It is uncertain when he will be able to return to the field for full practice or a game. Another player that has been ruled out for Week 9 is Jake Berndel: out for a hamstring injury he sustained in Week 7 against the Atlanta Falcons. The injury was expected to keep him out for a few weeks causing him to miss multiple games.
Despite everything the 49ers have gone through they have shown that they won’t give up just because they’ve lost a few players. We can only hope that they can keep this going, pushing through, gaining back some of the players that were lost and making it to the Superbowl.
