The 2026 World Cup is set to be one of the most significant events of the year, a tournament that, for the very first time, will be hosted across three different nations: the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
This unprecedented arrangement has certainly captured everyone’s attention, as such a scenario has never before been witnessed, least of all in a tournament of this magnitude.
The 2022 World Cup left us with an unpleasant taste; after Argentina defeated France, many people claimed that the tournament had been rigged to ensure an Argentine victory.
But this year will be different.
This year, I know France will win it and let’s be honest: France has everything it takes to do so. Most of their players are the very best in their respective positions. We must also acknowledge that France possesses “World Cup DNA.”
You might ask, “What exactly do you mean by that?” It means that France knows how to play in finals; they know how to demonstrate their strength as a national team, and they know how to make the most of the resources at their disposal.
For example: Kylian Mbappé, a Real Madrid player and Frenchman who already knows what it takes to win a World Cup, having lifted the trophy at the age of 18, has already experienced two World Cup finals.
He knows exactly what will be required of him in 2026; at 26 years old, this tournament could prove to be a historic one for him, as he stands a chance of becoming the all-time leading goalscorer in World Cup history.
They also count on Ousmane Dembélé, a PSG player, the reigning Ballon d’Or winner, and the standout performer of the last Champions League campaign, who serves as another crucial piece of the puzzle for this World Cup squad.
The final key piece of the French national team is none other than Michael Olise, a FC Bayern Munich player whom many consider to be the best in the world. And if I may say so myself, this French squad takes a back seat to no one.
I am absolutely certain they will win this World Cup; anything less would be one of the most shameful performances this sport has ever witnessed, given that they boast the best players in every single damn position.
I wish the best to the other national teams, but it is abundantly clear that France will win this tournament. The only sides capable of giving this French squad any trouble are Spain or Portugal, though we all know that would take nothing short of a miracle, seeing as Spain hasn’t reached a World Cup final in roughly 16 years and has been an embarrassment every time they’ve competed since then.
As for Portugal, while they may possess some talented players, they simply won’t be able to handle the caliber of France’s squad. All that remains now is to wait for France to obliterate every team that crosses their path because that is exactly what they are going to do. Mark my words, you heard it here first from Luis Santiago Rivera.
