Saam Khanzadeh, known as Mr. K to his students, is an MHS English teacher. When he first heard about the strike, feelings of anxiety arose—concerns about the outcome of negotiations and whether the community would support the teachers.
By the end of the strike, a sense of being deeply moved by the unity shown by the entire community took hold. Initially holding a pessimistic view of the situation before the first day of picketing, his perspective shifted as soon as the chants began. During the picketing, confidence in the community’s power and solidarity blossomed. The collective strength of the United Educators of San Francisco served as a powerful inspiration.

In addition to teaching, Mr. K stood up and became a Media Lead alongside Mr. Hart, Ms. Mufti, and Ms. Perales. He greatly enjoyed this role. After the strike commenced, doubts disappeared, and his confidence continues to grow this day!

I really enjoyed your article; it’s very well done. Mr. K is a very special person to me, and it truly makes me happy that he has an article written about him, as he deserves it very much. Best of luck to you and Mr. K.

I would just like to say that Cindy Castillo was our media captain! She worked tirelessly to prep us for Media!
