The hunger to win a title is felt in the air at Mission High School. This sensation has been felt for a long time, but it’s fate that refuses to allow such a great team to win. Great players have been seen, and great coaches have had the honor of leading this team. But this year, we feel the great change that Mission High School has long yearned for. With new additions, young talent, and a great staff, this year will be glorious for Mission High School.
As we know, the soccer season will begin in January. Several players who have been training on the school team: new students and students who were on the Mission High School team last year, shared their opinions and perspectives for this season. Read on to learn more about them.
The first person I interviewed was Carlos Rios Ventura, a senior at Mission High School. An experienced player at Mission High School and one of the key members of the team, he said, “I see this team playing in a final, and I feel like this year will be our year, you know? Seeing so many talented players really excites me because I know I’ll be sharing moments with them, and I really hope this year is magical because this will also be my last year at Mission High School.”
The next person I interviewed was Enrique, a sophomore from Mission High School who also played on the school’s team last year. He had some motivating words for the team: “This season we will have many challenges, but I know it will be worth it. Every practice and game we will give it our all on that field. The goal is to bring back home a city trophy; if possible, we will bring back a state championship.”
Another player I had the honor of interviewing is Israel Canto, a student who played on the Mission High School team last year. He’s a sophomore at Mission High School and a very kind person who said very good things about the team, such as: “Last year when I was at the school we felt we could win the championship, but it was very hard to lose the opportunity to keep fighting for the championship. But this year I feel very confident with the administration and the team because in practices we have seen good players, you have seen them, and we know they are good, but we need them to be consistent, to be responsible because that is what we need most now.”
Also, in a large interview I had on October 27, 2025, I had the opportunity to speak with other players who are training to earn a spot on the school team. They gave brief speeches about themselves and the team. Cesar Roque, for example, said: “My thoughts about the season are that we’re going to have a strong and competitive team based on who’s showing up.”
Finally, I’d like to mention players like Luis Garcia Paz, who is giving his all to earn a spot on the school team—a very talented player. Players like Osvaldo Lopez and Noe Zuleta demonstrate great defense in training and are very creative in their style of play. These are some of the many players we might see on the Mission High School soccer team next season.
All these people share a single goal… to win. With the highest motivation they can muster and the ideal coach, they know they can lead Mission High School to glory. “We will win,” Mission High School Players declare.
